Film Appreciation is a HALF YEAR art elective course that is open to all sophomores juniors and seniors. This course can only be taken one time by a student throughout his/her high school career. Using the curriculum created by the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences students will examine film by studying a variety of units focused on screenwriting, cinematography, media literacy, sound & music, special effects, animation and more.
After the completion of each unit students will be able to view a nominated motion picture that highlights the learned curriculum. The goal of this course is to understand the process of film production and communicate to others the standards that make a film great. Students will share their opinions often, participate in daily group discussion and learn to communicate their own ideas, believes and opinions to other students in this class. Worksheets, tests, quizzes, bellwork, group work, typed essays and projects can be expected.
