Drama Schedule
8/11/2014 Mr. Ord’s Masterpiece Theatre Dear Parents and Students, Welcome to Snow Canyon Middle School’s wonderful world of DRAMA! As we start a brand new semester, I would like to let you know what is happening in Drama. I am so excited for this year’s adventures of fun and frivolity. We will cover everything from Shakespeare to Shenandoah, from Miming to Musicals, and from Stage Fighting to Tech Lighting. It is my hope that your student will leave my class with skills that improve their body movements, their language, and their memorization. And more than anything I hope your student will leave my classroom with a greater appreciation of plays, musicals, movies, and performances on stage. Theater edifies the soul and makes you a better person. I truly believe this. Now, lets see what the workload will look this semester: Preparation: As we have no textbook in this class, all assignments are to be put in a notebook which will be graded several times during the semester. It will include the following: Handouts from class, Grade sheet, and Terminology sheets we work on in class. This notebook will be left in class every day and will be considered part of the daily grade. To increase the quality of our drama department you have paid $12 from each student that was paid to the front office to help purchase drama supplies and costumes for the semester. Attendance: Absences, as well as tardies, will be handled according to SCMS’s policy. Make up work missed during absences is the sole responsibility of the student. I will accept extra credit performance reports. Extra credit reports can be either a) watching a musical movie or b) seeing a live performance and then submitting a required write up. As this class is group-oriented with mostly IN CLASS ACTIVITIES, when students are absent, group work and discussion is missed which hurts them and also hurts our whole class. Everyone in class depends on each other. Please help instill in your child the value of responsibility, respect, optimism, and kindness to help our classroom be a safe place to express oneself. |
